A digital-first city-centre practice with its own implant surgeon and orthodontist

Smmmile takes a first-floor suite in the middle of Leeds, opposite the Trinity centre and minutes from the railway station. The group calls its practices stores, and the front of house is retail in feel, but behind it runs a full private practice: alongside the principal dentist sit a resident implantologist and a specialist orthodontist, so aligner cases, implant surgery and restorative work stay under one roof. Leeds is one of a handful of Smmmile sites in Britain, each registered separately with the Care Quality Commission.

Treatments and services

Straightening is the spine of the work — Invisalign clear aligners, fixed braces, and orthodontics for children and teenagers. Around it sits the cosmetic side: composite bonding, veneers, whitening and whole smile makeovers planned as one case rather than tooth by tooth. General dentistry runs underneath — examinations, hygiene, fillings, restorative treatment — and implant work covers single missing teeth through to full-mouth restoration and same-day teeth. Referrals from other dentists are accepted.

Technology

Impressions are replaced by an iTero intraoral scanner, which builds the three-dimensional model the plan is drawn on. Before treatment starts a simulation shows the projected outcome, and digital design tools set tooth shape and alignment case by case. Aligner movement is tracked in software that flags whether teeth are shifting as designed, so a stalled case shows up between appointments.

The clinical team

Dr Jon Hewitt, who qualified at Leeds, is principal dentist and the registered manager named on the practice’s Care Quality Commission entry. Dr Wasif Jamil, an implant dentist and oral surgeon, leads implant and same-day-teeth work, planning each case in stages. Dr Hans Antov is the specialist orthodontist, Dr Haroon Munir an associate dentist, and Maisie Caton-Johnson the dental therapist. A treatment coordinator maps out the plan before clinical work begins.
