Bupa Dental Care Leeds works out of a mixed-use building on the south side of the river, about ten minutes on foot from the railway station and the city centre. It is one of several hundred practices run across Britain by Bupa Dental Services, and the group shows itself in the paperwork rather than in the surgery: what a patient meets is a small, settled Leeds team, several of whom have been in the building for years. Care runs both ways here — NHS appointments for certain treatments, and private treatment alongside.

Treatments and services

The everyday work is general dentistry: examinations for adults and children, hygienist and therapist appointments, fillings, extractions, and same-day attention when a tooth breaks or an abscess flares. Beyond that sit the restorative and cosmetic lines — crowns, bridges, dentures, root canal treatment, veneers, bonding, home whitening, and care for jaw-joint problems. Straightening is offered with Invisalign clear aligners and the Inman Aligner. Implants are placed here, and oral surgery is carried out on site instead of being sent on to hospital. Referrals from other dentists are accepted.

The clinical team

Dr Arshid Hussain has practised for more than thirty years and takes the complex restorative and endodontic cases as well as smile-makeover work. Dr Teymour Mirza, three decades in himself, covers general, restorative and aesthetic dentistry. Dr Sandeep Cheema, known to patients as Sandy, has over ten years behind the chair and works in a deliberately gentle register. Rachel qualified at the Royal Army Dental Corps school in Aldershot in 1989 with the top student award. Debra leads the nursing team and is the infection control lead, in post since 2013.
