The Leeds practice with a maxillofacial surgeon in the building

Leeds City Dentalcare works from a detached building in Beeston, and what sets it apart from the other nine is who operates here. Iain Varley, a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, provides the surgical side of implant work. Bone grafting, sinus augmentation and full-mouth cases are finished on site rather than referred to hospital. In March 2026 the CQC registration passed to the Envisage Dental group; the dentists and practice manager stayed.

Treatments and services

General care means examinations with oral cancer screening and digital radiographs, hygiene and Airflow stain removal, white fillings, root canal therapy and periodontal treatment. Restorative work runs to crowns, bridges, dentures and implants, with CEREC restorations milled in the practice and fitted at the same visit. Cosmetic dentistry covers composite bonding, veneers and whitening; straightening is Invisalign or Quick Straight Teeth. Adults are treated privately; children up to eighteen, or nineteen in full-time education, are seen as NHS patients.

The dentists

David Brown graduated at Leeds in 1988, joined in 1990 and became principal in 1992, studying later with Paul Tipton and Michael Wise. Andrew Croston has practised here since 1994. Bruce Wright holds a Master’s in dental implantology and takes the complex cases with Varley. Eva Lennox, MFDS of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, is the one to ask for when nerves are the problem. Ehim Akinlade covers prosthodontics; hygienist Kerry Woods joined in 2001.

Comfort and access

The interior is deliberately un-dental, and the team is used to patients who avoided dentistry for decades. Access is unusually well worked out: step-free and wheelchair access throughout, disabled parking, enhanced lighting, high-backed chairs, large-print documents, assistance dogs and staff trained in disability awareness.
