The Armley practice that is awake at three in the morning

Urgent dentistry elsewhere means reaching somebody out of hours. Here the lights are on: the telephone is answered at any hour of any day, WhatsApp works as a real triage channel, and patients are treated in the middle of the night. The clinic occupies a Whitehall Estate building its founders own and fitted out as the flagship of a small Yorkshire and Manchester group, CQC-registered and staffed by GDC-registered dentists. Care is private.

Treatments

An urgent visit opens with an assessment and radiographs, then the work that ends the pain: extractions, including surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth and broken roots, root canal therapy, drainage, or a temporary restoration. Past the emergency, the same building handles implants and full-arch All-on-4 work, crowns, bonding and veneers, clear aligners, hygiene and gum disease treatment. The house rule is no referrals out: the dentist who starts a case finishes it.

Sedation and an aligner laboratory on site

Intravenous sedation runs with a dedicated sedation nurse — what makes long surgical appointments and severely phobic patients workable in an unscheduled setting. Aligners are planned, manufactured and fitted in the practice’s own laboratory instead of being sent abroad, so adjustments happen in days and the clinician who designed the movement checks it. The practice also publishes its own study of when Leeds searches for an emergency dentist.

The clinicians

Dr Zain Chishty, co-founder and clinical director, leads surgical cases, implants and sedation work; Dr Hassan Basharat, a Leeds-trained co-founder, heads cosmetic and restorative treatment. Around them sits a bench recruited nationally for declared sub-specialisms — oral surgery, endodontics, paediatric dentistry, facial aesthetics — among them Dr Anoop Kizaekka and Dr Rafaela Fernandes Zancan. Patients also name Dr Atika, and Aliya, Saraah and Dawood at the chairside.
